Columbia II is the second in a line of steel hulled exact replicas of the original 43.03m (141’) American-built 1923 Gloucester, MA Racing/Fishing Schooner Columbia. Her namesake was built to race, designed by William Starling Burgess and built at the A. D. Story shipyard in Massachusetts, taking part in a number of historic racing events including the International Fisherman’s Cup races in Halifax. Like her namesake, this new build will have impressive racing credentials and be able to reach speeds of 17 knots under sail.

Blending the best of old and new, Columbia II will have the appealing look of a true classic, but with the latest technologies, modern shipbuilding, and luxurious comfort. Working off the original drawings, some changes have been made including the steel hull in place of a wooden hull, the addition of staterooms and an engine room. Huge attention to detail has been put into ensuring that this new build is as close as possible to the original classic, with the yard making use of many original techniques to recreate this masterpiece.

Columbia II will feature an elegant interior to complement her classic exterior, with polished woods and a refined relaxed setting for guests to enjoy. At the heart of the yacht is a large main saloon featuring a formal dining table, open plan galley, a bar and coffee table seating. Modern additions have been cleverly integrated into the design, so as not to detract from the original look and feel of the classic design, with modern navigational equipment concealed behind her wheel.
