The rising popularity of Thailand as a premier yachting destination

Thailand has gained a reputation for its stunning beaches and warm waters, making it a top choice for yacht enthusiasts. Despite this, the country's complicated administrative procedures have hindered the growth of superyachts. In the past, foreign vessels were only allowed to visit as part of a larger itinerary and faced steep taxes upon entry.

Fortunately, with the introduction of the Foreign Charter License in 2022, superyachts are now only obligated to pay VAT on the income they generate while in Thailand. This, combined with the easing of COVID restrictions towards the end of 2022, the outlook for marine tourism in the region is bright, with expectations of a thriving summer season ahead.

Top Beach Destinations in Thailand for Superyachts

Pattaya Beach: Located in Chon Buri, this beach is a popular choice among international visitors seeking vibrant nightlife. It is also home to the expansive Central Festival Pattaya Beach Mall, the largest beach mall in Asia. Visitors interested in immersing themselves in local culture should explore the Sanctuary of Truth, a captivating museum housed in an impressive unfinished castle made entirely of takien and teak wood. Offering breathtaking views from the sea, it is recognized as the largest wooden structure in Thailand.

Pansea Beach: Situated in Choeng Thale, this technically public beach is surrounded by coconut trees and can be accessed only through the grounds of luxury resorts like Amanpuri and The Surin. Visitors can anchor nearby and enjoy this secluded 250-meter sandy stretch. Onshore, guests may encounter local masseuses offering traditional massages in front of The Surin's cottage-style suites.

Railay Beach: Located in Krabi, this small bay is accessible only by boat at the end of the Railay Peninsula. Visitors will be enchanted by Thailand's natural beauty, featuring towering coconut trees and stunning emerald waters. Rock climbing is a popular activity here, with adventurous individuals scaling the cliffs. Adjacent to the beach is the Phra Nang Cave, a sacred site for local fishermen adorned with unique stalactites and a shrine embellished with incense, flowers, and fertility symbols.
