John Paul Granstaff

Yacht Manager DDPA & DCSO

As a Yacht Manager, DDPA, and DCSO at IYC, JP Granstaff brings over 25 years of experience in the marine and yachting industry, with expertise in yacht management, regulatory compliance, and operational oversight. He works closely with owners, captains, and crew to ensure seamless daily operations, oversee shipyard periods and refits, manage budgets efficiently, and maintain compliance with international maritime regulations.

JP has developed a proactive, detail-oriented approach, built on strong relationships with clients and a trusted global network of service providers. His experience spans vessel operations, marine services, logistics, and large yacht management under international regulatory frameworks, providing practical solutions and dependable support to both owners and crews.

He holds certifications as a Designated Person Ashore (DPA), Company Security Officer (CSO), and Internal ISM/ISPS Auditor, enabling yachts to operate safely and confidently under the highest standards.

JP’s passion for the water began on the lakes of western Kentucky with his father and grandfather—a connection that continues to inspire his work today, helping owners enjoy their yachts with confidence.

Outside of work, he is a devoted father of two teenage boys and enjoys fostering their sense of adventure. Weekends often find JP and his wife exploring the Florida Keys by boat or off-roading through the rugged terrain of Big Bear Island.

He lives by two guiding mottos: “Excellence is not a skill, it’s an attitude” and “Leave it better than you found it.”
