Captain’s Insights: Why BEACHOUSE Returns To The Bahamas Every Season
The 700 islands and cays scattered across the Atlantic that make up the Bahamas offer endless yacht charter opportunities, and are a destination many return to year on year. The islands provide gin-clear waters, secluded beaches, and strike an excellent balance between relaxation and adventure.
With many of the IYC fleet based in the archipelago for the cruising season, it is easy to see why they continue to book up here. For families and friends, one yacht in particular, the 131’ (40m) Mangusta BEACHOUSE, has become a recurring favorite for guests, and the Captain, no matter the itinerary or interests, guests of all ages love cruising the Bahamas aboard this luxury charter yacht. Here, we share the Captain’s insider knowledge, activity highlights, and a sample itinerary that shows why BEACHOUSE returns to the Bahamas season after season:
Why The Bahamas?
“The Bahamas is wonderfully close to Florida, yet it feels like an escape into warm, crystal-clear waters,” says the Captain of BEACHOUSE. It’s this easy accessibility that makes the Bahamas such an effortless charter destination, especially from the USA, enabling you to make the most of your time on board.
The Bahamas’ waters are also ideal for yacht cruising, providing countless calm anchorages that can help you escape any crowds. Between December and April, the weather is warm and predictable, offering comfortable days on deck and ideal water conditions for anchoring and all watersports. Beyond the convenience factors, the islands are diverse, from the serene side of uninhabited islands and cays to the bustling spots ashore and the excitement of nature-based adventures.
Activities That Make A Charter Memorable
From above the water to below the surface, the crystal-clear turquoise waters are one of the main draws that lure visitors to the islands. You can choose to swim, dive, snorkel, fish, or admire it from a lounger; the Bahamas is a perfect water-based luxury vacation destination.
“The snorkeling and diving are incredible, the fishing is excellent, and the beaches are some of the most peaceful places you can imagine,” adds the Captain. Alongside the snorkeling and diving, the Bahamas offers some of the best anchorages for watersports. BEACHOUSE provides plenty of water toys. Take the Seabobs or Jet Skis for a spin, enjoy a leisurely paddle on the paddleboards, or try your hand at the electric foil board, water skiing, wakeboarding, and more.
Meanwhile, ashore, there is still plenty to do. From hiking trails offering panoramic views and photography opportunities of postcard-perfect scenes, meeting wildlife like swimming pigs and endangered iguanas, to wandering historic sites and experiencing the local cuisine.
But for the Captain, the real benefit of a charter here is to enjoy the more secluded spots of the islands: “I enjoy taking guests to quieter places away from the crowds, and some of my favorite memories are diving together, catching lobster, and cooking it fresh onboard that same evening.”

Aside from its turquoise waters and pristine beaches, the Bahamas offers a true culinary adventure, where the food is as vibrant and diverse as the islands themselves. Bahamian cuisine is a fusion of flavours, blending South American and Creole influences. From succulent seafood to tropical fruits and soul-warming staples, each dish tells a story of the island's rich cultural heritage.
When planning a visit to the stunning Bahamas, most people have heard of highlights including the famous pig beach of Big Major Cay, and the otherworldly beauty of Pink Sands beach on Harbour Island but that is not all the Bahamas has to offer, with a veritable treasure trove of undiscovered beaches, unique geological features and wildlife encounters to enjoy, far from the crowds. Here is IYC’s list of the best secret spots in this beautiful island group.
The Bahamas is an enduringly popular destination for superyachts and visitors are spoilt for choice for beaches to visit from the comfort of their private yacht. From pigs to paradise, here is our guide to the top five beaches in this exotic beauty spot.
Itinerary Inspiration For The Bahamas
While there is plenty to keep everyone occupied, the Captain advises: “Mornings are best for activities, and there’s no need to rush through a packed schedule. Slow down and enjoy each stop. Every area has its own charm.”
No matter which itinerary you choose, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to scenery and activities. For the Captain of BEACHOUSE, the Exumas are a favorite. “They’re convenient from Nassau, full of beautiful hideaways, and each anchorage feels like its own little world.”
An ideal week could look like beginning a yacht charter in Nassau, enjoying the luxury experiences ashore, and cruising onward to Highbourne Cay. From here, visit spots such as Hawksbill Cay and Staniel Cay - famous for Thunderball Grotto, which featured in James Bond, and then onto Pig Beach for the iconic swimming pigs and Compass Bay for nurse sharks.
The Captain adds: “Pig Beach is always a fun stop, and swimming with the nurse sharks at Compass Cay is an unforgettable experience. And if you’re at Staniel Cay, having a Rum Runner at the bar is a must.”
Another must-see spot is Warderick Well, for more pristine beaches and nature, and then on to Norman’s Cay, where keen divers can explore the old cartel plane wreck. And then returning to Nassau for an easy departure after a week of unforgettable experiences on board.
Life Onboard BEACHOUSE
While the Bahamas offer an incredible yachting experience, the yacht itself is as much a part of this, and BEACHOUSE certainly delivers. The Captain explains: “I take a very hands-on approach. I want guests to feel relaxed and comfortable the moment they step aboard. It’s their time to unwind. No stiffness, no rigid rules, just a welcoming atmosphere.”
Guests chartering BEACHOUSE can expect fast, comfortable passages between itinerary destinations and a friendly, professional crew. Topping off the experience is the delicious and fresh food, inspired by island life, courtesy of Chef Wayne Gallo.
The appeal of BEACHOUSE as a repeat charter choice lies in its expertly planned itineraries, a variety of toys and activities, and top-tier service throughout the week. Whether you have chartered before or are new to yachting, BEACHOUSE is the perfect platform to enjoy the Bahamas.
