Shipyard History
Founded in 1978 by Frans Heesen in Oss, The Netherlands, Heesen Yachts was the first Dutch shipyard to use aluminum for its yachts' hulls. Since then they have become a world leader in the design, engineering and construction of high-performance motor yachts. In 1992 they expanded their business to include the construction of traditional displacement yachts made from steel hulls, and today they deliver superyachts within the 30-80 meters size range, and beyond.
The current fleet includes aluminum, steel, displacement, semi-displacement and the revolutionary fast displacement (FDHF) developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Today Heesen Yachts has continued to pioneer the use of aluminum to produce seaworthy yet fast performance superyachts. The yard is a member of SYBAss (Superyacht Builders Association).
Shipyard Specialty
The Dutch shipyard delivers semi-custom and full-custom projects with its portfolio keeping on growing. Each Heesen vessel is tailored to its owner, always adhering to Heesen’s main principle: "Power and Beauty. Confidence and Performance". This means no two yachts by Heesen are the same. This approach is brought to life with the company’s meticulous attention to detail and its incredible reputation within the yachting community. All Heesen builds include the latest technology and engineering advancements as well as the time-honoured tradition of Dutch craftsmanship. Known for its advanced performance and designs by market-leading designers, Heesen is a proven brand that is highly respected and the recipient of multiple awards. The quality of these builds, both interior, and exterior, makes them popular choices on the sales and charter markets.
Notable deliveries and models
The shipyard gained in popularity in early 2000' with the launch of its successful Heesen 3700 model, a fast 37m flybridge motor yacht all made of aluminum. The Dutch yacht design studio Omega Architects was responsible for her exterior design and a total of ten units of the model were delivered.
Frank Laupman, the founder of Omega Architects, has worked on most of Heesen's yacht designs over the past 20 years. His largest project to date is the 65m motor yacht Galactica Star delivered in 2013. Other models designed by Omega Architects and built by Heesen include the Heesen 4700, Heesen 5000, Heesen 55M Steel Laurentia, Heesen 50M Aluminium FDHF Home, and more recently, Heesen 50M Steel Arkadia, Heesen 5000 Aluminum Aquamarine and Heesen 5700 Aluminum Akira.
