Roy has over six decades of experience in the maritime world. He first started working at his father’s Connecticut boatyard and marine engine dealership, before joining the US Navy where he carried out diving exercises, ship salvage, aircraft recovery, and oil spill cleanup. Later, he worked for the Tracor Marine shipyard in Florida with a 4,000-ton syncrolift.
Since 1982, Roy has been exclusively involved in yacht sales and charter, starting as Vice President of Burger Boat Company and working for a range of boat builders such as Palmer Johnson, Jarret Bay, All Seas and Vicem.
Roy sold over new and preowned 100 Burger yachts, as well as several yachts from Feadship, Kuipers, Lowland, Viking, Broward, Grand Banks, Marquis, Marlow, Boston Whaler, and Intrepid. Roy has undergone extensive sales training with boat dealerships representing Hatteras, Ferretti, Ocean Alexander, and Tiara.
Roy makes use of his educational background and his degrees in Engineering, Economics, and Business, in yacht sales and consulting and has authored several engineering papers. Roy has held a United States Coast Guard Ocean Operator’s license since 1972.
Roy’s passion for life on the water includes owning and maintaining three Bertram boats, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean with the legendary Dick Bertram, and diving on Helium Oxygen to 290 ft water depth.
