IYC Presents OCTOPUS, the New CDM Deep Blue 115

30th April 2026

IYC is pleased to announce its involvement in the build of OCTOPUS, a 115’ (35m) long-range explorer yacht at Cantiere delle Marche, a project that brings together proven technical expertise, experienced ownership, and a clear, purposeful vision, represented by UK Sales Consultant Jamie Swaine.

As Hull #1 of the Deep Blue 115 series, OCTOPUS represents a meaningful evolution of the platform. The project has undergone substantial refinement and enhancement throughout its development, with close collaboration between the shipyard, project management team, and IYC to elevate both capability and onboard experience beyond the original brief.

As the owner’s broker and representative, it has been a real pleasure for both myself and IYC to be closely involved in the development of this project from the outset,” says Jamie Swaine, IYC Sales Consultant. “Our role has been to help guide the process in support of the owner’s vision, bringing experience, advice and practical input throughout to help ensure the yacht is not only beautifully realised, but also absolutely right for him and his family. It is extremely rewarding to see Deep Blue 115 taking shape so strongly, and I am genuinely excited for the owner as the project continues to transition towards delivery this summer.”

Rather than following the trend of explorer-styled yachts, this new build has been conceived from the outset as a true long-range displacement platform: a yacht designed to go further, more efficiently, and with complete autonomy. With a steel hull, aluminium superstructure, and a transoceanic range of 4,500 nautical miles, she embodies the fundamental principles of a modern explorer while remaining firmly within the highly strategic 299GT threshold.

This sub-300GT positioning is not incidental. It reflects a carefully considered approach to maximizing capability, volume, and onboard experience within a commercially intelligent framework; a yacht that delivers the substance of a much larger vessel in a highly efficient package.

She benefits from a strong and deliberate design pedigree. Naval architecture has been developed by Axis Group Yacht Design, ensuring a platform rooted in performance and seaworthiness. Exterior design by Horacio Bozzo gives the yacht a confident, purposeful profile, while interiors by Giorgio Cassetta introduce a refined and contemporary sense of comfort throughout.

Designed to accommodate 12 guests, the layout places a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, complemented by two VIP cabins and two twin guest cabins below. Crew accommodation for seven, including the captain, ensures a high standard of service on extended voyages.

While her technical credentials are central to the concept, equal attention has been given to onboard lifestyle. A main deck aft pool, a key feature driven by the owner’s vision, introduces a rare sense of openness and leisure to a yacht of this size. Equally notable is the fully integrated tender garage housing a 15’ (4.5m) tender, the result of significant technical development to seamlessly incorporate this capability within a 35m platform without compromise.

The yacht has been commissioned by a highly experienced owner, whose direction has been instrumental in shaping the project. Drawing inspiration from successful explorer yachts such as ACALA and STELLAMAR, the brief was clear: to create a compact explorer with genuine long-range capability, robust engineering, and a level of comfort aligned with today’s premium market expectations.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Co-Founder and CEO of Cantiere delle Marche, Vasco Buonpensiere, comments: “I am delighted that a client of such discernment has chosen Cantiere delle Marche to build his first custom long-range superyacht. The launch of M/Y Octopus, our new Deep Blue 115, confirms once again that we remain the truest interpreters of explorer yachting, delivering a vessel that embodies the perfect synthesis of explorer-grade over-engineering and the finest culture of yachting design. I am equally grateful to IYC, whose partnership has proven, once again, to be entirely aligned with the values at the very core of our DNA: an uncompromising commitment to quality, reliability, and the complete satisfaction of every owner who places his trust in us.”

This announcement marks the beginning of a broader story. As OCTOPUS progresses toward delivery, further insight into the yacht’s design, build process, and operational capabilities will be shared, offering a closer look at what defines a new generation of sub-300GT explorers.
