Rebuilt by her owner as a passion project, before relaunching in November 2018, work was undertaken at the Swedish yard where she was originally built. An extensive work list has transformed her, with the yard’s team of craftsmen carefully taking her apart and rebuilding her from scratch. All her interior and upholstery was completely redone by the original artisan team who undertook her build, with finishing woodwork undertaken by one of the most renowned wood-specialist shipyards in all of Sweden. The final reassembly work took place at J Craft’s only appointed service center – A.N.G. – in the South of France, which specializes in J Crafts. Finally, her engines and drivetrains were sent back to Volvo Penta for a full rebuild. Smeralda has truly been reborn and is in better than new condition.

The first J Craft Torpedo, dubbed a ‘modern icon’, was launched to much acclaim in 1999 and this distinctive motor cruiser design has proved enduringly popular ever since. Each Torpedo build is hand finished throughout and the level of detail is evident in every inch of every build, with the yard’s high quality building process including details such as no less than 18 coats of lacquer applied to the deck. High quality suppliers include steering wheels by Nardi, suppliers to classic Ferrari’s.

Smeralda is a particularly special example of a J Class Torpedo thanks to high levels of customization during her recent work. She is ideally suited as a standalone craft, equally at home undertaking adventurous short trips as she is moored in a cosmopolitan harbor, or as a complementary vessel to a larger yacht. Able to sleep four guests plus one captain, she features two guest cabins and a wet room. The main deck is well equipped with cooking and food storage equipment, sunpads, and entertainment system and seating for the ultimate base at sea. An optional bimini on the main deck allows protection for the sun in hotter climates, with more extensive coverage also available if required.

Smeralda is incredibly stable with easy acceleration, moving effortlessly through the water, and is powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 500 engines. IPS joystick control allows the boat to move forwards, backwards and in all directions with just the lightest touch. She cruises at 35knots with a range of 350nm at 43 knots, allowing fast and easy access to your destination.
