IYC is pleased to announce that 55.2m (181') M/Y Geco has been named the ‘Best Motor Yacht over 40m’ at this year’s International Yacht & Aviation awards. Hosted by Luxe et al, the awards celebrate the best in both conceptual and built designs across the two industries. This accolade secures Geco as one of the most exciting, innovative new vessels in IYC’s global fleet.
Launched in June 2020, Geco is a fully-custom yacht from esteemed Italian shipyard Admiral – the flagship builder of The Italian Sea Group. Since her delivery last year and entrance into the yacht market, Geco has established herself as one of the must-charter boats in Europe. She now has a successful track record as one of the top grossing charter vessels in the region. Accommodating 12 guests, Geco’s key features include a mesmerizing open-stern beach club, a large circular sunbathing and entertainment area on the upper deck – that can also be used as a touch-and-go helipad, a Buddha bar lounge and a striking collection of contemporary art.
IYC has been involved in eleven Admiral projects and Michel Chryssicopoulos, Global Managing Partner of IYC, has worked on eight projects with Admiral to date. Michel has an excellent working relationship with the builder’s senior management team. Upon Geco’s launch last year, her owner commented: “The whole Admiral team have demonstrated a very high level of professionalism, commitment and self-sacrifice in order to deliver Geco on time – [she is] an exceptional yacht.”
In addition to Geco, Admiral has joined forces with IYC over the past years on several new build projects – many of which have become highly successful charter yachts, such as Cacos V, Gigreca, Ouranos, and Ipanemas (ex Ouranos). Ouranos was delivered in 2016 to an experienced owner, she reported a fully-booked charter itinerary almost immediately and has remained a popular vessel ever since. Both Geco and Ouranos illustrate how considering charter clients during the build stage and consulting with industry experts can almost guarantee a successful vessel that will present an excellent return on investment. Discerning charter guests are attracted to specific features on board a yacht – such as a large beach club, versatile social areas and a generous selection of water toys – and when these elements are considered during the build stage, a yacht can be expected to be in demand as soon as she hits the water.
To date, The Italian Sea Group has completed eleven new build collaborations with IYC, and the well-established relationship continues with several other high-quality vessels currently under construction: Project Visionary, Project Metamorphosis and Project Innovation. We will be announcing more information in due course.
