Antigua Yacht Charter Guide

Discover the Caribbean’s ultimate yachting paradise, where UNESCO heritage, world-class sailing, and endless golden beaches await on an Antigua yacht charter.

Antigua is in the heart of the Caribbean, with St Barths and St Martin to the northwest and Guadeloupe to the south, making it the perfect launchpad for exploring the Eastern Caribbean. Just a stone’s throw away is its smaller, uninhabited sibling, Barbuda. Renowned for its claim of 365 beaches - one for each day of the year - Antigua is more than idyllic sands and turquoise waters; it offers world-class watersport spots, underwater exploration, inland adventures, gourmet restaurants, and chic beach bars. The island is home to the iconic and UNESCO-listed Nelson’s Dockyard, where superyachts now replace the warships in the natural Falmouth Harbour, and naval buildings still stand - a testament to its colonial past. As a prime yachting hub, hosting famous regattas to charter shows, Antigua offers an unforgettable Caribbean yacht charter itinerary.

Best Time To Visit: The optimal time for cruising here is from December to April, within Antigua’s driest season.

Key Cruising Areas: There are a whole host of anchorages and bays to enjoy cruising around Antigua and Barbuda, from Falmouth Harbour, Nonsuch Bay, Jumby Bay, and Dickinson Bay, to name a few.

Don’t Miss: The island hosts Antigua Sailing Week toward the end of the Caribbean season when some of the world’s finest yachts gather to compete in the iconic regatta.

Best Spots for Wining and Dining: At Pigeon Point Beach, Catherines Cafe offers French-inspired menus complemented by a Caribbean beach vibe. Other beachfront dining experiences include Jacqui O’s, one of Antigua’s best beach clubs and restaurants. For stunning ocean views, head to Sheer Rocks on the West Coast, which boasts an extensive wine list and live music.

Best Local Dish: Directly across from Falmouth Harbour Marina is Roti Sue. Whether you choose shrimp or chicken filling, the rotis are the most famous on the island and will not disappoint.

Local Culture: On Sundays, when the sun goes down, the historical and restored military lookout of Shirley Heights, which dates back to the 17th century, hosts a vibrant Caribbean party full of Antiguan-flavoured barbecue dishes, rum punch, and music.

Best Beach: With a beach for each day of the year to explore, you will never run out of postcard-perfect scenes to enjoy. One of the favorites is Dickenson Bay. And on Barbuda, be sure to explore the 17-mile-long pink sand beach.

IYC recommends: Enjoy a day anchored off Galleon Beach, one known for its turtle sightings. The coral reefs around here are home to an abundance of marine life and are perfect for snorkeling and diving.
