Columbus Yachts represents the custom superyacht arm of Palumbo Superyachts, an Italian shipbuilding group with deep roots in commercial and yacht construction. Based in Ancona, Columbus was established to bring a more focused identity to the group’s growing portfolio of custom and semi-custom motor yachts. From the outset, the brand positioned itself around practical engineering, disciplined build processes, and modern Italian design.
The shipyard’s strength lies in its ability to manage complex steel and aluminum projects while maintaining efficient timelines and predictable outcomes. Shipyard History
Founded in 1967, Palumbo Group has been an active presence in the commercial ship building and repair market. In 2008, the company entered the luxury yacht market with the launch of the Columbus Yachts superyacht brand, and has since been part of Palumbo Superyachts division along with ISA Yachts, Mondomarine and Extra Yachts. Palumbo Superyachts boasts three new build and refit facilities in Naples, Ancona and Savona, and is able to deliver a comprehensive selection of model sizes from 24m through to 120m. The 2013 launch of the Columbus 40S Hybrid (now known as Leudin I) marked the first Columbus Yacht delivered by the Italian shipyard, with six completed since its creation. The largest Columbus Yachts project to date is the 80m Dragon, launched in 2019. Customers are offered a wide range of models, including sport, tri-deck and explorer yacht options.

Columbus Yachts is focusing on the construction of build projects ranging from 37m to 120m in its Naples, Ancona and Savona shipyards, along with offering maintenance and refit services. The current yacht model selection from the shipyard includes monohulls with both semi-displacement and full-displacement configurations in both steel and aluminum hulls. The builder also offers the possibility of full customization for bespoke projects according to the clients' demands. Clients can choose from the variety of models and fully customize the interior of the yacht to meet their individual tastes and lifestyle.
Notable deliveries and models
Columbus Yachts’ delivery record has grown steadily since the shipyard’s earliest motor yacht projects, with completed builds spanning from 40m to 80m: the 53.9m ARMADA (ex-PRIMA), the brand’s first superyacht, delivered in 2011, the 40m sister yachts LEUDIN I (ex-ELEONORA III) and MRS D (ex-KATIA), the 55.7m TAIBA, the 79.9m DRAGON and the 49.5m K2. As the first of Columbus Yachts’ Sport Hybrid models, LEUDIN I was the first superyacht to receive RINA’s Hybrid Propulsion class notation and won three ShowBoats Design Awards in 2014, for Interior Design, Environmental Protection and Holistic Design, as well as the 2013 UIM Environmental Award.
Through the continued development of new models across its established product lines, Columbus Yachts has expanded its fleet with additional builds such as the 49.9m ANJELIF, the 43m Atlantique 43 sisters NIGHT FURY II and FRETTE, the 47m ACQUA CHIARA, the 42m BIG NAAN and the 38m PRINCIPESSA CAPRICCIOSA. Its four lines cover yachts from 37m to 120m: the Classic line, inaugurated by ARMADA; the Sport line, revived with K2, the first Sport 50; the Crossover explorer range, launched with BIG NAAN; and the Atlantique series, spanning from the Atlantique 38 to the Atlantique 65, which combines elegance with range capacity under the shipyard’s “Architecture for Voyagers” philosophy.
Design collaborations on models and projects
The Italian naval architecture and design studio Hydro Tec, led by Sergio Cutolo, has been involved in most of the shipyard’s built projects, overseeing engineering and exterior design. The studio’s collaboration began with the 40S Hybrid in the Sport line and has continued across the Classic and Crossover ranges, including DRAGON, whose interior was created by Francesco Guida. Renowned designer Luca Dini handled the design of K2 and the new Sport line, while Marco Casali of Too Design produced the exterior and interior styling for the full-custom ANJELIF together with her owner, with naval architecture by Hydro Tec; the yacht was a finalist in three categories at the 2025 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards: Outstanding Exterior Design (Motor Yachts 42m–51.9m), Best Interior Design (Motor Yachts 499GT and below, 40m and above) and the Eco Award. Hot Lab Studio, meanwhile, is behind the Atlantique range’s design, shaping both exterior and interior across its models, and also styled the interiors of LEUDIN I and BIG NAAN.
