Shipyard History
As part of the Damen Group alonside the yacht brand Amels, Damen Yachting offers a diverse, high-quality range of explorer and support yachts, including the Support Yacht and SeaXplorer series. The company has received recognition and praise in the yachting industry for its complete range of commercial and exploration vessels, from the first 51m Support Yacht Oberon to the first 62m SeaXplorer Anawa. Shipyard Specialty
The Damen Group saw the potential to extend the Amels brand by introducing the new range of Explorer and Support Yachts. They draw upon their extensive experience in commercial ships and supply vessel construction to create semi-customisable models specifically designed for luxury trips, comfortable living, and unparalleled safety.
The range is available in two hull configurations (semi-displacement and full-displacement) and offers numerous deck and layout arrangements. Customers can modify the models to meet their individual use requirements, such as with a helipad, submarine garage and crane lift capacity.
Notable deliveries and models
Damen Yachting has built a strong reputation in the luxury yachting market through two complementary ranges: the Yacht Support fleet of dedicated support vessels and the Xplorer range of expedition yachts, previously marketed as SeaXplorer. The Yacht Support range traces its origins to the 51.3m PURSUIT (ex-OBERON), the shipyard’s first support vessel, with the fleet later joined by the 75m ABEONA, Damen’s largest support vessel, and the 53.3m BAD COMPANY SUPPORT, and comprises the YS 53 and YS 75 models.
The Xplorer range’s early deliveries include the 76.9m LA DATCHA, the first SeaXplorer, and the 62m ANAWA, followed by the 58.3m PINK SHADOW, while the 60m AFTER YOU, the first Xplorer 60, was delivered in 2025 together with her 53.3m YS 53 support vessel EMOTIONAL and went on to win Best Explorer Yacht at the 2026 Robb Report Best of the Best Awards. The range comprises the Xplorer 60, Xplorer 80 and Xplorer 105, each designed to be flexible and customizable to suit individual owner requirements.
Design collaborations on models and projects
Damen Yachting’s design program centers on a partnership with Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture, which provided the naval architecture for LA DATCHA and the exterior design of PINK SHADOW, AFTER YOU and the Xplorer 80, while interiors and further exterior customization are open to specialist collaborators chosen to match each owner’s brief. Design Unlimited led interiors on PINK SHADOW, contributed to her exterior concept alongside expedition-design input from EYOS Expeditions, and the yacht won Outstanding Exterior Design (Motor Yachts 40m–59.9m) at the 2024 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards, plus a Judges’ Commendation for her beach club. H2 Yacht Design shaped the interiors of AFTER YOU, a finalist for Best New Series and Best Interior Design (Motor Yachts 1,000GT and above) at the 2026 edition. LA DATCHA, with interiors by Vasiliy Shprits, earned a Judges’ Special Award at the 2021 World Superyacht Awards, while Michael Leach Design took on both exterior and interior design for the shipyard’s fully custom 75.2m hybrid expedition yacht, giving the vessel a distinctive dark hull and zig-zag window styling. The exterior design and naval architecture of the Yacht Support range are developed in-house, as seen on the 72.2m INDRATUS (ex-GAME CHANGER), Best Support Vessel at the 2018 World Superyacht Awards, and the 55.5m GENE CHASER (ex-KYOGRE), a 2022 World Superyacht Awards winner.
