Although Picchiotti is a historic brand with a long history dating back to the 1600s, it was their purchase by the Perini Navi Group in 2007 that gave the company new life and direction. Their reintroduction included several new series of megayachts including the Vitruvius® line, a collaboration between Vitruvius Ltd, Philippe Briand and the Perini Navi Group. The original Picchiotti yard was in Limite sull’Arno, but they later moved to Viareggio where they became a crucial sector of the Italian shipbuilding industry. Their production range was broad, including everything from wooden sailing boats to steel battleships. Private, luxury yachts have also been a longstanding tradition at the yard. In 2010, Picchiotti’s production moved to the Perini Group’s yard in La Spezia.
