Since its founding in 1969 on the shores of England’s south coast, Sunseeker has carved out a unique place in the world of performance yacht building. Every model is built in GRP and shaped around speed, handling, and contemporary living.
The Sunseeker fleet spans from 38 feet (11.6m) to 161 feet (49m), with five distinct ranges that suit a variety of cruising styles. These include the sharp-edged Superhawk and Predator lines, the flybridge-focused Manhattan series, the larger Yacht class, and the more recent Ocean range with an emphasis on volume and range. Over the years, Sunseeker has delivered more than 140 yachts over 100 feet (30.5m), all developed through in-house design and engineering. Since its inception in 1969, Sunseeker Yachts has been synonymous with luxury, elegance, and impeccable craftsmanship in the world of yachting. Founded by Robert Braithwaite, this British shipyard has grown into a global brand, known for its iconic designs and attention to detail.
The story of Sunseeker began in Poole, Dorset, a coastal town in southern England. Robert Braithwaite, a true visionary with a passion for boating, set out to create a boatyard that would redefine the concept of luxury yachts. Starting with small speedboats, he quickly gained a reputation for building high-performance vessels that caught the eye of yachting enthusiasts.
With the dawn of the new millennium, Sunseeker solidified its position as a world leader in the luxury yacht industry. Their yachts became synonymous with elegance, featuring spacious interiors, state-of-the-art technology, and exquisite finishes. Notable deliveries and models
Across its history, Sunseeker Yachts has built an extensive lineup of vessels that set new standards in luxury, design and performance in their category.
Sunseeker is renowned for its Manhattan and Predator series, alongside the Performance, Yacht, Ocean and Superyacht ranges. Two Ocean models broke with convention by taking their names from gross tonnage rather than length: the Ocean 156 and the Ocean 182, later renamed the 82 Ocean Enclosed and the 90 Ocean Enclosed. The 27.1m Ocean 182, an enclosed-flybridge yacht, won Best Layout at the 2023 World Yachts Trophies and her category at the 2024 Yacht Style Awards, within a year of her global debut. Sunseeker’s X-TEND beach club system, fitted to models including the 90 Ocean, won Innovation of the Year at the 2022 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards. The 47.3m Sunseeker 155 Yacht was the largest yacht built by the Poole-based yard at her launch and its first semi-displacement, round-bilge hull. Her first hull was BLUSH, and the model won Best Production Motor Yacht (25m and above) at the 2016 Asia Boating Awards.

Design collaborations on models and projects
Sunseeker has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned designers, from Don Shead and Ken Freivokh to a partnership with British studio Design Unlimited spanning more than two decades. That alliance shapes the interior direction of the range and has produced landmark projects including the 100 Yacht, the Ocean 156 and the 120 Yacht, as well as the interiors of the Sunseeker 161, conceived as the yard’s first metal superyacht in partnership with Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts. Italian design house Visionnaire brought its own vocabulary to the Ocean 182 for the yacht’s European debut, drawing on the tones of sand and sea and the sustainable materials of its Re-Generation sample book.
The results are measurable. The 31m SHEREEN, a Sunseeker 105 Yacht with naval architecture by Don Shead and interiors by Ken Freivokh, won Best Power Interior and Best Power 23m–32m at the 2001 International Superyacht Society Awards. The Superhawk 55, 65 Sport Yacht, 88 Yacht and the 29.9m IKAL, a 100 Yacht, have all won Best Exterior Design in their categories at the World Yachts Trophies between 2021 and 2023. The Predator 130 earned a ShowBoats Design Award for naval architecture and reached the finals of the World Superyacht Awards, both in 2010.
