IYC HOSTS 2021 EXCELLENCE AWARDS

30th March 2021

IYC is happy to recognize and celebrate their employees after an eventful year. Despite all challenges IYC had a successful 2020, ranking among Top 3 companies in number of yacht sold and maintaining the largest charter fleet globally, with over 100 yachts. In March, IYC hosted the Excellence Awards, which recognize exceptional performance and honor those who performed over and above all others.

In 2020, IYC sold more than $450 million worth of yachts, comprising 40 pre-owned yachts and four new build sales, two of which are above 70 meters. The broker awarded with the 2020 Sales Excellence award for achieving the highest sales for the company was Kevin Bonnie. Kevin is a well know name within the yachting industry, with more than two decades of experience in the brokerage sector. He first gained experience on yachts as a deck hand, chef, engineer, first mate and captain, before returning ashore as a yacht broker. After three years with Monaco Marine, he launched and is now managing partner of IYC’s Monaco office. Bonnie continues to set the standard of going above and beyond and is a vital part of IYC.

On the charter side, IYC has acknowledged Barbara Stork Landeweer with the 2020 Charter Excellence Award for achieving the highest charter retail sales for the company. Barbara joined IYC in November 2003 as a charter agent, bringing over 15 years of experience and an impressive portfolio of success in the yacht charter field. She continually elevates herself to offer the best service to her clients and constantly hits the mark.

IYC values its employees on a professional and personal level. For this reason, the Excellence Award goes to the employees who exceeded the expectations of the position, performing at a level above and beyond job requirements, and has made significant contributions to the company. Liliana Lopez received the 2020 Employee Excellence Award.

Liliana Lopez transitioned to the yachting industry after being introduced to it while on vacation in 2011. She left corporate America and became crew on a luxury charter before co-founding Propel Yachts in 2014, a curator of premier day and short-term charter operations specializing in the South Florida and Bahamas market. Strengthened by her expertise in charter management, digital and experiential marketing Lopez joined IYC as Charter Manager in March of 2019, and today manages 11 yachts in IYC’s global fleet.

In 2021, for the first time, IYC introduced the Humanitarian Award, which honors exceptional individuals who dedicate time to fight for a cause. The award went to John Weller, who has been with IYC since 2017 and is a highly successful sales broker. John goes beyond his work to give back to his community. He has launched the Well-er Days, Freedom Waters, where he arranges yacht day trips for children with cancer and veterans and is heavily involved in the Annual Big Brothers/Big Sisters Fishing Tournament.

Although last year’s Excellence Awards were canceled due to COVID-19, IYC still awarded their top employees of 2019. The Sales Excellence Award in 2019 went to Mark Elliott. Mark has been with IYC for over 20 years and continues to apply his decades of experience to assist his clients in cruising the world one yacht at a time. On the charter side, Katie Macpherson earned the title of Charter Excellence of the Year. Katie takes pride in the yacht matchmaking process and enjoys finding the perfect yacht for each client. To wrap up the 2019 year the Employee Excellence Award went to Terry Hines.
