Michael was introduced to boating while spending his first 18 summers in Cape May, New Jersey working in his fathers shipyard and mating on his boats. After graduating from business school in Boston with an MBA degree, Michael owned and operated a sport fishing boat for five years between Palm Beach Florida and Nantucket, Massachusetts. Michael then went into the Merchant Marine and earned his 1600 ton master’s license. He then spent 10 years as a yacht and ship captain including three years as captain of a U.S. Navy research ship. Michael then returned to Palm Beach and started a marine service business and began his career as a yacht broker. From 1990 till present Michael has worked for two prominent yacht brokerage firms and most recently has joined IYC in Palm Beach, Florida. With 30 years in the yachting business, Michael is well positioned to help his clients in all aspects of yachting including sales, service and new build projects.
Barbara Stork Landeweer joined IYC in November 2003 as a Charter Agent bringing with her over fifteen years of experience in the yachting industry and an impressive portfolio of success in the yacht charter field. Originally from New York, Barbara began her yachting career in 1988 as a yacht brokerage assistant at Fraser Yachts where she spent over four years. Barbara established and managed the Charter Division at Allied Richard Bertram for almost 10 years, and was their sole charter agent.
Some of the many mega yachts that she has arranged successful charters on include MOONLIGHT II, KOGO, ANDALE, and APOISE. She obtained her Yacht Salesperson’s License in 2000 in order to offer another service her charter clients who wanted to move to the next step of purchasing a luxury yacht and trusted her to guide them in the proper direction. She and her husband spend time aboard their boat cruising the Bahamas and Florida. Barbara enjoys fishing and travelling both for pleasure and business, where she attends all major charter boat shows.
