41m (134'6") superyacht Silver Cloud joins the IYC Sales Fleet

21st August 2017
IYC is pleased to welcome the distinctive 41m (134’6") SWATH (small waterplane area twin hull) superyacht “Silver Cloud” to its sales fleet, listed by Michael Rafferty of the IYC office in Palm Beach.

Built by German yard Abeking & Rasmussen (A&R) in 2008, this groundbreaking superyacht is capable of taking on all sea conditions while ensuring the highest levels of comfort. This first luxury SWATH yacht ever built, Silver Cloud has proven the ultimate success story in reaching its goal of achieving impressive levels of stability and comfort when cruising. This outstanding achievement was recognized by the yachting world when Silver Cloud received the Technology Award at the prestigious World Superyacht Awards in 2009.

The result of extensive research and innovative technology, by a trailblazing owner, coupled with a world-renowned builder, the small waterplane area twin hull of Silver Cloud’s design provides smooth and stable performance in even the roughest seas. Two submarine hulls attach to the house with narrow struts, which are the only part of the yacht affected by wave motion, thereby making Silver Cloud perhaps the most stable yacht ever built. This design combined with four computer driven dynamic stabilizers further remove almost all motion normally associated with a yacht in rough sea conditions.

Custom built for an owner who looked to travel the world, and whose wife suffered from seasickness, Silver Cloud has proven that it is possible to create a long range expedition yacht, capable of traveling the world that even the most severe sufferers of seasickness could enjoy. Silver Cloud, with a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, has circumnavigated the world powered by two 1,100 bhp Caterpillar C-32 diesel engines. She is fully classed by DNV/GL and is MCA compliant.

An added benefit to Silver Cloud’s twin hulls is the extensive space on board, equivalent to that of a much larger yacht evidenced by her Gross Registered Tonnage of 926.  Silver Cloud has a bright, soothing interior which was designed by Kirschstein Designs LTD and Susan Schuyler Smith of Spectrum Designs. The cheerful, panoramic main salon, located on the main deck, is an incredibly large and impressive space with several distinct zones including two dining areas and two lounge areas. An outside deck, with al fresco dining, connects with the salon via powered sliding glass doors providing easy indoor-outdoor flow.

Accommodations are for 12 guests in five cabins including the master, two king staterooms and two staterooms with full, twin and Pullman beds.

There are four guest staterooms located on the main deck, each characterized by large spaces and over-sized windows that ensure enviable views. These four staterooms have bathrooms with showers and heated floors. There are also LED flat screen televisions and small refrigerators in each suite.

Stairs and elevator link the main deck, owner’s deck, and bridge deck. The owner’s deck features a large semi-circle shaped master suite that includes a king size bed, separate his and her heads, a large office study on the starboard side and a smaller office space on the port side near her bathroom. A 65” LED TV monitor rises aft of the center window. Her bath includes a shower and a large bathtub with a flexible shower head, and a private entrance to the gym. This special and impressive master suite offers sweeping 180 degree views with large windows and all the benefits of Silver Cloud’s 58’4" (17.8m) beam.

The master cabin leads out to a private balcony forward which is home to a separate helm station with full controls that allows the owner to operate his yacht. One of the large navigation monitors and overhead speakers permit outdoor TV viewing.

Continuing aft from the master suite, is the fully equipped gym on the port side and the stunning skylounge/media room on the starboard side. A 65” LED monitor lowers from the ceiling providing comfortable TV viewing from four powered reclining lounge chairs.

Aft on the owner’s deck, you step out onto the large helicopter deck that doubles as an outdoor space for lounging, sunbathing, and storing tenders and toys. Silver Cloud has one of the largest and safest certified helicopter decks of any yacht on the water.

There are remotely powered shades in all of the major spaces.

Going up a level from the owner’s deck, is the large, well equipped wheelhouse forward, including a comfortable settee and the captain’s stateroom to starboard. Wing stations port and starboard make dock side navigation very convenient.

Aft and outside on the bridge deck is the 5x7 ft. spa pool affording greater than a 180 degree panoramic view.

Truly a yacht designed to see the world and explore every inch of its waters, this is a rare opportunity to own a yacht of this caliber. With intelligent design that matches the incredible technology that has been utilized throughout the yacht, Silver Cloud is sure to appeal to knowledgeable buyers who want to explore the far reaches of the globe in exceptional comfort especially being able to eliminate the thought of motion sickness for the owners and guests.
