IYC Announces the Delivery of OCTOPUS, a Benchmark Deep Blue 115 by Cantiere delle Marche
IYC is proud to announce the delivery of OCTOPUS, a 35m Deep Blue 115 built by Cantiere delle Marche (CDM), marking a major milestone in the creation of one of the most ambitious and technically advanced explorer yachts in her class.
Delivered to a highly experienced owner with a clear vision for long-range cruising, OCTOPUS is the result of a close collaboration between the owner, CDM and IYC. Every stage of the design, specification and general arrangement was shaped around one objective: to create a genuinely class-leading 35m explorer and a new benchmark in the sub-300GT sector.
At 299GT, OCTOPUS delivers exceptional volume, capability and onboard functionality while remaining within one of the market’s most strategically important thresholds. Conceived as a true long-range explorer rather than simply an explorer-styled yacht, she has been built for serious long-range cruising, sustained use and extended periods aboard.
From the outset, the Owner’s brief called for genuine autonomy, robust engineering and advanced technical capability, while also delivering the comfort and sophistication expected of a modern custom yacht. The result combines explorer-grade substance with a level of refinement and bespoke design rarely seen on a yacht of this size.
Throughout the project, IYC worked closely with the owner and CDM to shape the yacht’s specification, refine the general arrangement and maximise the use of space, ensuring OCTOPUS would perform at the highest level technically while remaining operationally intelligent, practical and future-proofed for years to come.

IYC Sales Consultant, Jamie Swaine comments“ The delivery of OCTOPUS is a major milestone and one I am extremely proud to have been involved in. From the beginning, this was a project driven by a highly experienced owner with a very clear vision. Our role at IYC was to work closely with him and CDM throughout the process, refining the specification, challenging the use of space and pushing the overall package as far as possible so that the end result was not simply a beautiful yacht, but a genuinely class-leading one. To now see her delivered is hugely rewarding for everyone involved."
As Hull #1 of the Deep Blue 115 series, OCTOPUS holds particular significance within the wider market. While the platform builds on the proven success of CDM’s Deep Blue concept, it has been extensively refined through the owner’s brief and the development process behind her, with significant changes made to the general arrangement to optimise both long-range practicality and the onboard experience.
Among her standout features is a fully integrated internal tender garage, an exceptionally rare inclusion on a yacht of this size that required substantial design and engineering development. Equally distinctive is the stern pool, a highly unusual custom implementation in this size bracket and a feature rarely achieved with this level of integration on a yacht of her size.
Beyond her layout innovations, OCTOPUS distinguishes herself through the depth of her engineering and onboard systems. Specified with advanced technical packages and levels of redundancy more commonly associated with substantially larger yachts, she combines a steel hull, aluminium superstructure, substantial fuel capacity and serious long-range capability in an exceptionally efficient 35m package.
Her exterior, designed by Horacio Bozzo, presents a profile that is modern, elegant and unmistakably purposeful. Inside, Giorgio Cassetta has created a heavily customised and richly detailed interior that brings individuality, warmth and genuine design depth to a yacht intended to be lived on and enjoyed fully by the owner and his family.
The Owner’s experience and clarity of vision were central to the project’s success. Having owned multiple yachts previously, he approached OCTOPUS with a clear understanding of what he wanted to achieve, both technically and operationally. By selecting CDM for its expertise in explorer yachts and steel construction, and drawing on IYC’s involvement throughout the process, he has created a yacht that is exceptionally well resolved inside and out.

"We are delighted to deliver OCTOPUS to such knowledgeable and passionate Owners. It confirms the steady success we are having in the US" says Vasco Buonpensiere, Co-Founder and CEO of Cantiere delle Marche. "Working with clients of this calibre, who brought a clear vision and deep understanding of yachting, has been both stimulating and rewarding. I would also like to thank Jamie Swaine and the entire IYC team for their outstanding collaboration throughout the project. Their professionalism and commitment played a key role in bringing this remarkable yacht to a successful conclusion."
OCTOPUS now enters service as a genuine benchmark in her class: a modern explorer with the range, engineering depth, design sophistication and specification strength to stand apart in the 35m market. For the owner, she represents the realisation of a highly considered vision and the beginning of a new programme of genuine long-range cruising.
For IYC, her delivery reflects the company’s continued role in guiding owners through ambitious and technically demanding new-build projects, helping to create yachts that are not only successful, but distinctive, enduring and truly class-leading.
