Antibes Yacht Charter Guide

The contrasting images of Antibes once inspired Picasso – bursts of colour from flowers pouring onto cobbled streets, white pebble beaches, and dark pine-covered hills giving way to snow-capped mountains. With all the romance of southern France, Antibes has a unique relaxed charm. Palm trees lined beaches and whitewashed villas sitting atop sugary sand beaches create a relaxed atmosphere with all the style of neighboring Cannes and Nice. The biggest marina in West Mediterranean, a walk along the Quai will guarantee views of some of the world’s largest superyachts. Perfectly situated on the French Riviera, an Antibes yacht charter is the ideal way to explore incredible coasts and natural scenery, sample the hedonistic atmosphere of Cannes and St Tropez, or make the most of your boat hire beach hopping and snorkeling in cobalt-blue waters.

Best Time To Visit: Antibes is a lively destination from Easter to November, though the best weather is from June to August.

Key Cruising Areas: The craggy Cap d’Antibes is speckled with secluded coves and bays. Sail around the peninsula and admire the exclusive villas then anchor offshore and take a tender to enjoy lunch at one of the popular restaurants, then spend the afternoon lazing at a relaxed beach club.

Don’t Miss: Explore the impressive 16th century Fort Carré. As well as having an interesting history – Napoleon was once imprisoned in the star-shaped fortress – you may recognise the setting from the Bond film Never Say Never Again.

Best Spots for Wining and Dining: Antibes offers several famous restaurants and lively nightlife, particularly known for its jazz. Sail into Millionaire’s Bay and take in the splendour of majestic villas set amongst dense pine forests, then come ashore for a romantic lunch at Keller Plage restaurant. For a special evening, the Eden-Roc restaurant offers incredible views of the sunset over the Lérins Islands in an elegant setting, and executive chef Arnaud Poëtte will delight you with his epicurean creations.

Best Local Dish: As with all of France, gastronomy is a huge part of life. The cuisine of Antibes is Provencal, with influences from Corsican traders. The produce is excellent – make your way through the winding cobbled streets to find the Cours Masséna market. Pick up a selection of excellent local cheeses, bread, and charcuterie for a delectable picnic.

Local Culture: Picasso once called this city home. Be sure to visit the museum dedicated to his works, which also houses a remarkable collection of sculptures by artists including Miró and Poirier.

Best Beach:  With a reputation as the best in the South of France, you won’t be disappointed by any of the beaches around Antibes. For a tranquil escape, head to the sparkling waters and white sands of La Garoupe. Take the coastal path around the peninsula to find a quiet spot.

IYC recommends: For a night of jazz and quirkiness, head to Absinthe bar to enjoy the lively atmosphere in this historic bar. Sample the long-forgotten ritual of the green fairy, then wander back to the marina to wind down watching the moonlight glinting of hundreds of stunning yachts.
