Founded in 2007, Bering Yachts established itself with a clear and deliberate focus: building steel explorer yachts capable of genuine long-range cruising. Headquartered in the United States, with construction facilities in Turkey and Bulgaria, the shipyard combines American operational thinking with European steel-building expertise. From the beginning, Bering positioned itself outside the conventional production yacht space.
Steel construction sits at the core of Bering’s design and engineering philosophy. Full-displacement hulls are developed for strength, predictable seakeeping, and efficiency over extended distances. Systems are selected with redundancy and serviceability in mind, supporting owners who plan to cruise far beyond traditional yachting routes and infrastructure.
The current model range spans from compact explorer yachts to full-scale superyachts reaching 165’ (50.3m). Across all sizes, Bering maintains a semi-custom approach, allowing owners to tailor layouts, interiors, and onboard systems to match real-world cruising plans. The result is a fleet defined by purpose, practicality, and long-term usability.

Bering Yachts
Shipyard History
Bering Yachts was founded in 2007 by Alexei Mikhailov. The company began with the construction of a 50-foot all-metal vessel in Foshan, China, originally intended for Mikhailov’s personal use. Interest in the yacht led to further orders and the gradual development of Bering as a specialist explorer yacht builder.
After delivering several early vessels, Bering moved its principal production operations to Antalya, Turkey, in 2017. The move allowed the company to strengthen its engineering team, expand its production capabilities, and begin developing larger explorer yachts and superyachts. Antalya remains the primary construction center for Bering’s steel yachts.
In 2024, Bering opened an additional shipyard in Burgas, Bulgaria, creating an EU-based production hub and supporting the construction of its aluminum expedition catamarans. The company expanded its capabilities again in 2026 through a collaboration with RMK Yachts. The agreement supports the development and construction of expedition superyachts over 500 GT, including highly customized and polar-capable projects.
Shipyard Specialty
Bering specializes in full-displacement explorer yachts created for ocean crossings, extended autonomy, and operation in remote cruising areas. High-grade steel hulls provide strength, durability, and stable performance at sea, while aluminum superstructures help manage weight and balance. The expedition catamaran range uses aluminum construction to deliver efficiency, interior volume, and access to shallower cruising grounds.
Safety, comfort, and reliability form the foundation of the yard’s construction philosophy. Bering yachts feature practical machinery spaces, substantial storage, redundant systems, and equipment selected for maintenance and serviceability during extended voyages. Their heavy displacement and low centers of gravity also contribute to predictable behavior underway and at anchor.
Bering follows a semi-custom approach that gives owners considerable freedom to shape the yacht around their intended use. Accommodation plans, interiors, technical systems, tender storage, beach clubs, offices, gyms, and wellness spaces can be adapted to individual requirements. This flexibility is supported by an in-house team that oversees design, engineering, construction, outfitting, testing, and delivery.
Notable Deliveries And Models
The 145’ (44.2m) HEEUS is a defining project for the shipyard and the first yacht in the Bering 145 series. Launched in 2022, she features a steel hull, aluminum superstructure, 499 GT of internal volume, hybrid propulsion, and an ice belt for cruising in colder regions. Her six-cabin layout accommodates 12 guests, while extensive tender storage, a beach club, and a range exceeding 4,000 nautical miles support long-distance operation.
Other notable deliveries include the 92’ (28m) PAPILLON, the custom 76’ (23.2m) LEMANJA, the 77’ (23.5m) VERONIKA, and the 80’ (24m) BEYOND CAPRICORN. More recent projects include the custom Bering 121 and new examples of the Bering 72, Bering 78, and Bering 88. The delivery of the first BC60 also marked an important step in the development of Bering’s aluminum expedition catamaran range.
The current monohull portfolio includes the Bering 72, 77, 78, 88, 110, 125, 130, 145, and 165. The expedition catamaran range comprises the BC60, BC70, and BC80. Construction is underway on the first Bering 110 and two Bering 165 hulls, alongside further Bering 72 and Bering 88 projects.
Design Collaborations
Bering combines its in-house engineering and naval architecture capabilities with selected international design studios. These collaborations help develop contemporary exterior profiles and refined interiors while maintaining the range, structural strength, and practical deck arrangements expected from an explorer yacht. Owners also benefit from layouts that can be adapted around family use, charter operation, entertaining, or extended time at sea.
Swiss studio Valentin Design developed the exterior styling of the Bering 165 and the latest Bering 130. The five-deck Bering 165 combines a 499 GT platform and transoceanic range with extensive guest areas and a high level of customization. The 40m Bering 130 introduces a more fluid design language while retaining the self-sufficiency, storage, and seaworthiness required for long-distance cruising.
Red Yacht Design collaborated with Bering’s internal team on the exterior styling and interior concept of the Bering 110. The studio is also developing the customized interior of the second Bering 165, with Valentin Design responsible for the exterior and Eureka Yachts contributing naval architecture. These partnerships reflect Bering’s continuing development within the larger explorer superyacht market.
