Frank Denison purchased Dooley’s Dry Dock in 1948 and, from the base that company provided, founded Broward Marine in 1953. In the early years Denison contracted with the Dutch and U.S. navies to build minesweepers, but as demand for those vessels dropped, Broward Marine shifted their attention to custom yachts. Through the 70s and 80s, Broward’s range of services expanded from construction to service, maintenance, and full refits. Over the course of the company’s history, and through the hands of several owners, the yard has launched approximately 300 yachts. These vessels are popular on both the sale and charter market.
