Founded in 1946 in Cherbourg, France, CMN Yachts draws on nearly eight decades of heavy shipbuilding expertise. The yard emerged from the CMN Group’s industrial roots, bringing naval-grade engineering into the world of custom superyachts. Today, CMN focuses on large, technically ambitious motor yachts built for owners who prioritize capability as much as design.
Construction takes place in northern France, where CMN’s facilities are equipped to handle complex steel and aluminum builds. The shipyard is particularly well regarded for displacement platforms, long-range cruising profiles, and engineering solutions that support modern propulsion systems. This foundation allows designers and owners a high level of technical freedom throughout the build process.
Yachts such as Cloud 9, Dar, and Kanga illustrate CMN’s ability to balance innovation with reliability. Each project reflects a highly collaborative approach, with owners, designers, and engineers closely involved from concept to delivery. For clients seeking a custom yacht grounded in proven engineering, CMN Yachts offers a confident and highly capable platform.

An Overview of the Shipyard's History, Specialty, Iconic Builds, and Partnerships
CMN Yacht Division
Not many shipyards can say that their companies began in the aeronautical industry, but CMN Yachts’ heritage dates back to 1912 and Felix Aminot’s innovative aeronautical designs. From its foundation, CMN extended its operations into commercial and military shipbuilding, finally entering the luxury yachting industry in the 1960s. Over the years CMN managed to establish their reputation for craftsmanship and quality and, in the 1990s, the shipyard’s builds further expanded to include yachts over 140 feet (42.7 meters). This yacht manufacturer’s versatility and broad range of experience makes them an asset on the sales and charter market. CMN is using the latest technology in building yachts. More specifically, the CATIA software enables CMn to produce top of the line hull constructions and helps the engineers to precisely meet the requirements of every client.
