Founded in 1958 in Ameglia, Italy, by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia, Sanlorenzo has since become one of the most revered names in the world of superyacht construction with building facilities located in Ameglia, Viareggio and La Spezia.
In its early years, Sanlorenzo focused on building traditional wooden sailing boats, quickly gaining a reputation for their attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship. As the demand for motor yachts began to rise in the 1960s, Sanlorenzo adapted to the changing market and shifted its focus to the production of high-quality motor yachts.

In recent years, Sanlorenzo has continued to push boundaries with groundbreaking designs, such as the SX series. The SX models introduced a new concept of crossover yachts, seamlessly blending the attributes of a motor yacht and an explorer vessel. In 2017, the first Steel unit was introduced, Seven Sins, which showcases Sanlorenzo's expertise in customisation for larger vessels. With a sleek exterior and luxurious interior designed by Officina Italiana Design, Seven Sins embodies the elegance and craftsmanship for which Sanlorenzo is renowned. Today, the Sanlorenzo Steel range spreads from 52m to 73m. Attila, the 64m superyacht delivered in 2019, stands out as one of the shipyard's largest and most impressive deliveries to date. - Officina Italiana Design with which Sanlorenzo has a longstanding relationship working on the exterior designs of the new SL, Steel models range and SX88.
- The collaboration between Sanlorenzo and Francesco Paszkowski Design, which has produced some remarkable yachts in the yard's superyacht segment such as the Alloy, Steel, EXP ranges.
- More recently, the shipyard teamed up with Zuccon International Project developing some of the new yacht designs of the SD, Steel, X-Space, SX and SP model series.
