At IYC, we are proud of our international success, but our heart beats with Greek pride. Our Greek heritage shapes our values and how we relate to our teams, clients, and the dedicated Captains and crew who create exceptional experiences on our yachts. Each year, IYC Charter Management in Greece hosts a Captains Day as part of a wider commitment to celebrating the spirit of Greece and the unity within our yachting community. This year’s highly successful event took place on October 3rd, where 150 Captains and crew gathered for a beautiful lunch in Athens.
While IYC has certainly accomplished an international foothold and is tremendously proud of its growth, the company’s roots run deep in the beautiful waters of Greece. Our Greek heritage gives us a particular vision on the value of community, family, and hard work and guides our approach and relationship with our teams worldwide, our clients, and the Captains and crew that devote their time and energy to delivering beautiful experiences on board.
In this spirit, every year, IYC hosts a Captains Day, part of a larger commitment to nurturing and strengthening the bonds we share with our fleet of yachts and the wider yachting community. We view our Captains and crew not just as colleagues, but as cherished members of our extended family. Their dedication, skill, and unwavering commitment to excellence inspire us daily.
This year’s Captains Day took place on October 3rd. IYC Charter Management organized a lunch to thank Captains and engineers from the Greek community for their dedication and to celebrate the end of a busy summer season. The highly successful event was attended by 150 Captains and crew who enjoyed a beautiful scenic lunch at Akti Restaurant. In attendance were also members of the Hellenic Yacht Masters Club and the Hellenic Yacht Crew Association.
The opening speech was given by Michel Chryssicopoulos, IYC Global Managing Partner, who shared some key insights and updates from the company.
“This past season we achieved record-high charter numbers per vessel,” he shared, “and this year, we launched the RESERVE function to further boost these numbers. We are proud to announce a further 10 large yachts are joining our fleet in Greece, creating approximately 200 job openings.”
Fotis Gerianos, Head of Charter Management in Greece at IYC, highlights the importance of such events the company holds throughout the year to thank the Captains for the season, for their support, and to take the time to gather all together. In the spirit of inclusivity and hospitality, he adds, “we invite the whole Greek community of Captains as we are one industry and work all together to be successful. Having been in the industry since 2007, I am well connected to this community, and if anything, this event felt like a Sunday family lunch.”
We thank all those who were present and acknowledge the success of this event as a testament to the spirit of Greece and the unity that binds us together in a moment to share our love for the sea, our dedication to preserving its beauty, and our commitment to excellence in the industry.
