IYC HOSTS 2023 EXCELLENCE AWARDS
The 2023 edition of IYC’s prestigious Excellence Awards were held in March at The Ben, a boutique waterfront Hotel in West Palm Beach. With prime views of the Palm Harbor Marina and scenic Intracoastal Waterway, it was a fitting location for an event that honors some of the top players in yachting.
The annual awards ceremony recognizes the hard work, commitment and talent throughout IYC’s global team, and pays tribute to the diligence and dedication of the entire workforce in maintaining and growing the company’s continued success. It also highlights the exceptional achievements of those who performed over and above and is a valued opportunity to come together and reflect on the previous year.
Today, IYC is one of the largest and most reputable global brands in yachting. In 2022, IYC sold more than $573 million worth of yachts, maintain its position among the Top 3 companies in yacht sales globally. The broker awarded with the 2022 Sales Excellence award for achieving the highest sales for the company was Matthew Stone, Sales Consultant and Managing Partner of IYC’s California office. Matt is an award-winning broker who has devoted more than half of his lifetime to the yachting industry. He has a particular passion for new construction builds and has toured most of the world’s leading international shipyards. He is also a regular on AWE’s networks television series Selling Yachts.
The past 12 months saw plenty of activity in the charter market, with IYC surpassing its record-breaking numbers in 2021 and maintaining its position as the company with the largest charter fleet globally. With all travel restrictions lifted, the market has witnessed increased appetite and demand for popular charter destinations. Mediterranean bookings enjoyed a 10% increase compared to the previous year, with Greece remaining the number one summer charter destination globally with a 29% market share. IYC’s growing fleet of charter vessels can be found in all key cruising destinations, including the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Bahamas and New England.
IYC Sales & Charter Consultant, Pantelis Stathis, received the 2022 Charter Excellence Award for achieving the highest charter retail sales for the company. Pantelis draws on his years of experience in event management and marketing. His previous roles include Marketing Director of Trident Yacht Alliance and Boat Show Director of the Qatar International Boat Show, not to mention a stint in the sales and charter departments of EKKA Yachts just prior to joining IYC in 2020.
The awards ceremony saw three main awards presented, the last of which was the Employee Excellence award. IYC places great importance on building the best team in the yachting industry, with experts across all fields based in key locations around the globe. The 2022 award went to Fotis Geranios, Head of Charter Management at IYC’s Greek office, a position he has held since 2015. For Fotis, every little corner of the world has a potential for chartering, and he brings this aspirational vision to his role at IYC.
