IYC GROWS ITS NEW BUILD MOMENTUM WITH PROJECT INNOVATION

18th January 2021

IYC rings in the New Year by announcing the sale of PROJECT INNOVATION. The contract signed at the end of 2020 marks the forth new build yacht sold by the global brokerage firm in the last year.

PROJECT INNOVATION is to be designed and built by Italian shipyard Tecnomar and is scheduled for delivery in 2023. A large 700 GT interior volume will accommodate 12/14 guests. Once complete, the yacht will form a welcome addition to the growing IYC charter fleet.

Michel Chryssicopoulos of IYC, who will be managing the build team, comments: “This will be a revolutionary vessel, as per its project name. She will redefine the boundaries of innovation, space and design in yachting.

Tecnomar’s Vice Chairman, Giuseppe Taranto, says PROJECT INNOVATION will set a new standard in yachting, and that the “avant-garde concept behind the whole project is completely disruptive”.

The sale of PROJECT INNOVATION continues a string of new build successes for IYC, which prides itself on being at the forefront of the yachting curve. Both 73m PROJECT VISIONARY and 72m PROJECT METAMORPHOSIS, which were sold by IYC in 2020, will be two of the largest vessels built by Admiral Yachts to date, the flagship shipyard of The Italian Sea Group.

Both projects are scheduled to be delivered in 2024 and single out IYC and Admiral as serious players in the crucial 60m-plus new build sector. Furthermore, the 1,800 GT PROJECT METAMORPHOSIS pushes into the growing explorer yacht market that is proving so attractive to buyers in a Covid-19 world. Chryssicopoulos, who represents the Owner of PROJECT METAMORPHOSIS, believes the project will “reinvent traditional yacht design”.

With a full-displacement, ice-class steel hull and a transatlantic range of over 5,500 nautical miles, PROJECT METAMORPHOSIS offers autonomy and capabilities for remote exploration with the types of luxurious amenities expected by today’s owners; a large beach club, swimming pool on the aft deck, private spa and helipad. Six main deck staterooms and a dedicated owner’s deck will be serviced by an ample crew of 20.

In December 2020, IYC also announced the sale of a 44m new-build Benetti Diamond Model, sold by Frank Grzeszczak Jr. The Diamond 145 features an exterior design by Giorgio M. Cassetta and is recognized as being the Italian shipyard’s flagship fiberglass yacht. However, this model will stand apart from previous builds with its 460 GT interior volume, allowing for six guest cabins, a dedicated beach club and a sundeck that stretches over 100 square meters.

Embarking on 2021 with a renewed enthusiasm for the new builds ahead, IYC looks set to make waves for all the right reasons this year.
