IYC Yachts Triumph at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show 2023

12th December 2023

Held in Antigua from December 4 to 9, the Antigua Charter Yacht Show brings together a collection of many of the world’s best charter yachts and leading industry professionals. The show is a chance to showcase all the best that the charter sector has to offer, and its busy schedule includes the highly-contested Chef’s Competition, yacht viewings, evening events, and much more. In a dazzling display at this year's Show, IYC was proud to display five yachts and partake in the various competitions the show is known for. Discover below which of the yachts in our fleet were proud to claim some wins and showcase their talents for all those who attended.

The culinary prowess of LOON, CROSSED SABRE and OCEANOS took center stage at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show's Chef's Competition, where their esteemed chefs pushed the boundaries of creativity, taking on the challenge of crafting a three-course dining experience that not only impresses with its flavor, but also pays homage to diverse cuisines, countries, and cultures.

Adding to the challenge, each Chef had to contend with a 'mystery ingredient'. The mystery ingredient, a testament to the nomadic yacht chef lifestyle, had to be ingeniously incorporated into one of the three courses, with points deductions awaiting those who opt out of its use.

The judging criteria evaluated chefs on appearance, taste, creativity, execution, and overall appeal. Extra points were awarded for incorporating Caribbean flare, utilizing sustainable products, and catering to special diets – a true test of culinary versatility.

Amidst the intense competition, Chef Fernando Jeffrey from CROSSED SABRE emerged triumphant, claiming the third spot in their category with their menu featuring a Sea Bass & King Prawn Ceviche to start, followed by a Sous Vide Short Rib of Beef & King Scallop served with spiced quinoa, aji panca sauce, white asparagus, chaterelle mushroom with Petrossian Caviar and corn chimichurri. For dessert, the Chef served up a Passionfruit, Chocolate, and Pisco Tart with purple corn mousse, spiced pineapple pisco compote, chili smoke pineapple ice cream and caramelized popcorn. Finally, this was paired with a Peruvian Passionfruit Pisco Sour cocktail.

The IYC fleet also made waves in CYBA's 'Designer Water Competition,' with MOSKITO, LOON, and OCEANOS sweeping the competition with their unique creations.

IYC is proud to have left an indelible mark on this year's Show and prouder still of the Captains and crew of those yachts that were present. A heartfelt congratulations is in order for the talented Chefs who embraced the challenge, the crews who championed service, and the Captains who represented yachting at its finest.
