IYC is pleased to welcome Mark Theissen who joins as a Sales Consultant based out of the Palm Beach Gardens office.
Mark’s international maritime experience spans across various business roles in the tech sector where he was involved in bringing to market many technological advancements. He is a passionate and experienced professional proven dedicated to connecting his clients to their goals and life dreams. Born in former Yugoslavia, he spent his childhood years sailing around the Croatian coast on his dinghy and his family’s boat. In 1992, Mark was forced to leave his home and emigrated to Düsseldorf, Germany.
He reached the semi-pro level in basketball; ultimately leading him to the U.S. before the age of 18. He decided to reconnect with his passion for the sea by attending Massachusetts Maritime Academy. In 2005, he began his career on the retail side of marine electronics in Palm Beach, Florida & Viareggio, Italy and evolved to delivering full-fledged smart ship systems to yachts leveraging navigation, communication, automation, cloud technology, etc. Mark contributed to many high-profile projects, such as SY Maltese Falcon, a multimillion-dollar system and service deal with Staten Island Ferries, and multiple bespoke yacht new-build & refit projects in America, Italy, Turkey, and Croatia. Mark is passionate about building strong relationships and loves giving back.
In 2019, he spearheaded and hosted the inaugural YPY International sailing trip in Croatia— 80 members from 6 worldwide chapters attended with sponsors like Feadship, Lurssen, and Rybovich; with the goal of igniting new collaborations and learning about ocean preservation. Mark identifies deeply with IYC’s tech edge and believes in the holistic approach to technology that can make the difference between yacht ownership and enjoying your yacht. Mark speaks English, German & Serbo-Croatian, and resides in Wellington, Florida. He is a proud husband & father of two girls and loves spending time with family and friends on the water or in the mountains.
