Nestled on Seattle’s Duwamish River, Delta Marine has quietly earned a reputation for creating custom motor yachts that combine sleek elegance with expedition capability. What began in 1967 building rugged fishing vessels has evolved into a shipyard where innovation, craftsmanship, and luxury converge. Each vessel embodies a unique vision, tailored for the owner who demands more than simply transport.

From the very first draw of concept lines to launch day and beyond, Delta Marine’s ethos centers on collaboration. A dedicated team works alongside owners to realize their individual lifestyle, whether that means wellness decks, toy garages, or intercontinental range. The facility’s 25-acre footprint and nearly 300,000 square feet of covered manufacturing space make a statement about both scale and attention to detail.

For the discerning client, choosing Delta Marine means more than acquiring a yacht. It means stepping into a partnership built on decades of trust, delivering vessels that are as purposeful as they are luxurious, capable of wild adventures and serene escapes in equal measure.

Delta Marine

An Overview of the Shipyard's History, Specialty, Iconic Builds, and Partnershipsa

Delta Marine

Shipyard History

One of America’s respected yacht brands, Delta Marine produces high custom motor yachts up to 73 metres long. Based in Seattle, Delta is a family-owned yard that prides itself on producing high-class luxury yachts. Founded in 1968, the company has established itself as a premier builder of custom yachts. Delta Marine’s roots are in building hardy commercial vessels capable of taking on any seas. The story of Delta Marine begins with the visionary entrepreneur, J. Howard Sheldon. With a passion for boating and an eye for innovation, Sheldon set out to create a shipyard that would redefine the standards of yacht construction. In its early years, Delta Marine focused on building commercial vessels and military boats, honing their skills in construction and engineering. However, it was in the 1980s that the shipyard transitioned into luxury yacht building.

The shipyard's relentless pursuit of perfection led to numerous accolades and awards for their yachts, solidifying their position as a leader in the luxury yacht market.

Shipyard Specialty

Renowned for their specialty in custom-built yachts, the shipyard Delta Marine offers clients an unparalleled level of personalisation and attention to detail.

What sets Delta Marine apart is their unwavering commitment to bringing their clients' visions to life. From the initial concept stage to the final delivery, the shipyard works closely with each client, understanding their unique preferences and requirements. This collaborative approach ensures that every yacht reflects the owner's distinct taste and lifestyle. In addition to their expertise in construction, Delta Marine has also developed a reputation for exceptional project management. With a wealth of experience, the shipyard ensures that every project is executed with precision, on time, and within budget.

Delta Marine Yachts specializes in creating custom-built motor yachts that blend artistic design, technological innovation, and superb craftsmanship. Their ability to transform dreams into reality, coupled with their commitment to quality and customer service, has solidified their position as a leader in the luxury yacht industry.

Notable deliveries and models

Delta Marine is recognized for building full-custom motor yachts, delivering vessels in both semi-displacement and full-displacement hull configurations.

The largest yacht built by Delta Marine is the 73.2m LAUREL, completed in 2006. Throughout the 2010s, the American shipyard delivered a series of notable motor yachts, including the 65.5m INVICTUS in 2013, the 72.2m ALBATROSS in 2016, since lengthened and renamed MOONSTONE, and the 63.4m SATORI in 2018.

More recent additions to the Delta Marine fleet include the 46.3m motor superyacht ARCTIC PRIDE II, delivered in 2020, and the 33.5m VAGABOND, a Delta 110 model that introduced a new hull platform for the Seattle-based shipyard when she was launched in 2025.

Design collaborations on models and projects

Delta Marine’s design capabilities rest on a large in-house engineering and design team, the Delta Design Group. Operating out of state-of-the-art facilities, the team works closely with the yard’s build teams and clients to create high-quality custom builds, while the yard also collaborates with outside design teams.

The Delta Design Group has contributed immensely to the success of a range of projects, including LAUREL, the 47.5m ROCHADE, INVICTUS, the 40.5m ONIKA and SATORI. These motor yachts are known for their integration of design and engineering, well-considered interior layouts, careful attention to detail and impressive finishes, with ONIKA winning the Interior Design Award (Motor Yachts below 500GT) at the 2015 ShowBoats Design Awards.

Delta Marine has collaborated with acclaimed yacht designer Jonathan Quinn Barnett on multiple projects. Barnett’s signature sleek and elegant designs have graced the exteriors of the 46.2m PISCES and the 53m MLR, and he also designed the interiors of MLR and the 37.8m RUFFIAN.

The yard worked closely with the acclaimed Norwegian designer Espen Øino on MOONSTONE (ex-ALBATROSS). Øino’s design expertise and ability to combine elegance with functionality were instrumental in shaping the yacht’s exterior profile, with naval architecture by the Delta Design Group and interiors by Zuretti. Delta Marine has also partnered with British design studio Bannenberg & Rowell on the Delta + B&R range, a family of hybrid superyacht designs spanning 50m to 75m, starting with the Delta 50BR.
