CELEBRATE SPRING BREAK IN THESE STUNNING DESTINATIONS

1st February 2021

A vacation for the whole family, spring break offers an opportunity to head to sunnier climes and enjoy a new place together. Escape the hustle and bustle of home life and plan a yacht charter this spring, a wonderful time of year to see some of the world’s most beautiful destinations. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, an action-packed trip, or quality time with your family, a bespoke yacht charter created by IYC can include a range of activities that take advantage of the privacy, safety, and flexibility of your own floating oasis. For spring 2021, IYC is highlighting its three top spring break destinations: Florida, The Caribbean, and the Bahamas.

Florida

A beloved favorite for many in the United States, Florida is known as ‘The Sunshine State’ for good reason. Spring is an excellent time to set sail along its pristine beaches; enjoy the calm warm waters as those on board deep-sea fish, play with water toys, and sunbathe. With average temperatures of 25°C / 78°F in March and relatively low humidity, warm, sunny days are guaranteed during a Florida charter. A popular place to visit is The Florida Keys – a short cruise from Miami. Dip your toe in the party atmosphere of Key West and soak up the sun with a delicious frozen cocktail in hand or for something a little quieter, Tiny Stock Island is a rustic spot beloved by creatives. Conveniently located, the yachting hubs of Miami, Palm Springs, and Fort Lauderdale are easily accessible by private and commercial air travel.

The Caribbean
The vacation possibilities found in the Caribbean are endless. Each island boasts different food, cultures, and topography to escape to. Island hop through the British Virgin Islands and take in the natural splendor of this part of the world. Many of the 60 islands are uninhabited and are an excellent choice for those wishing to drop anchor and spend their days hiking, snorkeling in small cays, and relaxing on the beach. For nature-lovers, the rainforest on the island of Tortola is home to a spectacular number of rare birds, or for something a little more strenuous, spend the day hiking up Sage Mountain and you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding ocean. For a more buzzing atmosphere, St Barths is the go-to spot for yachts in the late winter and early spring. Each year, the island hosts the renowned St Barths Bucket, which will be held from 18-21 March in 2021. Enjoy the heart-racing sailing regatta from your yacht or ashore – it’s a must-see experience.

The Bahamas
Springtime in the Bahamas is a truly blissful experience. The clear waters offer superb wreck and coral reef diving opportunities (with visibility up to 60m / 196ft in some places), and the pristine white beaches are an unparalleled place to relax. The region is also bursting with history; head to San Salvador to stand on the spot where Columbus first landed, or explore The Cloisters in Nassau, an intriguing collection of stonework that dates back to the 14th century. Nature lovers will enjoy the Lucayan National Park, which has six ecosystems and an expansive underwater network of caves. Another excellent place to visit is Harbour Island, known as the “Nantucket of the Caribbean Sea” for its laid back charm and sailing community. Only accessible by boat, the island offers a truly ‘off-the-grid’ getaway opportunity for you and your family. Spend the afternoon enjoying a barbecue on one of the island’s famous pink beaches and watch the sunset over the calm Bahamian water.

No matter where you’re spending your spring break, IYC has hundreds of pedigree yachts to choose from. If you’re celebrating in Florida, step aboard Silver Seas. Fresh from a refit in 2019, her large exterior decks are perfect for soaking up the warm weather, with a sporty 32' intrepid towed tender and a collection of water toys to entertain all on board. Located in the Bahamas, Revelry benefits from spacious, flexible accommodation for 10 guests that will ideally suit couples or families. Cruise the Caribbean on board Zeal (ex-Loon), which has established one of the most successful charter programs of all time, and is the perfect yacht to enjoy in the sunshine thanks to her vast array of watersports equipment and inflatables. Big Easy is another great option for this region, her highlights include a versatile upper deck, jacuzzi, and a rich, inviting interior.
