As the yachting landscape moves toward more eco-conscious designs and alternative propulsion and materials, one name that continues to stand out is Sunreef Yachts. Consistently challenging traditional yacht design and its commitment to sustainability has led to the yard recently gaining a top ten status as the world’s youngest shipyard to achieve the highest ranking in BOAT International’s Global Order Book; Sunreef has secured 9th position, additionally making it the only catamaran brand featured.
With a rapidly expanding portfolio, including three Sunreef 43M models on order, the Polish-based shipyard continues to redefine yachting through pioneering greener technologies. Founded in 2002 by Francis Lapp, the yard has remained steadfast in its mission to implement more sustainable features while not compromising luxury. Recognizing that catamaran ownership has become increasingly popular over the years, IYC established a partnership with Sunreef UK as its exclusive commercial agent last year, providing clients access to an extensive range of models, both new and pre-owned.
A Sustainable Spirit
Sunreef’s pioneering spirit keeps them a step ahead. With the notable uptick in interest in sustainable luxury catamarans, the yard is working to integrate sustainability at all stages in various ways. The yachts currently benefit from solar power, electric propulsion, and energy-efficient systems.
For construction purposes, the yard uses flax fiber and PET foam; they have an R&D laboratory researching recyclable plant composites and are also introducing quality alternatives to teak and further developing our sustainable interior furnishings.
Sunreef invests heavily in research and development and offers a comprehensive package of eco-friendly solutions, from solar technology, electric engines, and batteries to AC, water management, and sustainable decors. This underscores that luxury and sustainability can coexist in yachting.
Get Onboard Soon
For potential owners, there are considerable benefits to acquiring a pre-owned Sunreef catamaran, giving the ability to step into ownership without lengthy lead times, meaning you can enjoy it almost immediately. This easier gateway into yacht ownership means you can enjoy your yacht faster without the prolonged anticipation typically associated with custom yacht construction.
The financial landscape for pre-owned Sunreef catamarans also presents a perfect opportunity. By choosing a pre-owned yacht, you can strategically capitalize on current market conditions, avoiding depreciation that occurs during initial ownership. Sunreef’s growing reputation and commitment to sustainability also mean their yachts retain significant resale value, making them a strategic decision.
The access and diversity of the pre-owned catamaran market is vast, with a range of models and types. You will be able to find a yacht that matches your requirements with the yachts spanning different years, configurations, and technical specifications. Pre-owned Sunreef catamarans already have a proven track record and have demonstrated their capabilities in the market. On top of this, opting for one of the yard’s Eco models will also help future-proof the investment.
On The Horizon
But for those with a longer-term vision and plan, Sunreef has exciting developments in their order book. With over 30 yachts on order or under construction, the yard continues to push boundaries in design and engineering. The recent unveiling of their flagship model in the Ultima range, developed in collaboration with Phathom Studio, further cements the yard’s commitment to pushing design and innovation boundaries.
One of the most exciting and newest developments is the Sunreef 43M Eco - set to become the world’s largest catamaran. At 42.7-meters in length with a beam of 15.4-meters, it will host up to 12 guests. The model features an impressive total surface area of 1,700 square meters and incorporates 120 square meters of solar panels into the superstructure. Alongside the space credentials, the yacht has also been designed with a hydrogenation system that supplies clean power while under sail.
A key milestone in constructing this model, which is still in construction, is the completion of its composite hull infusion, which makes it the world’s largest single-shot hull infusion project to date at the Gdansk shipyard.
