Enjoy an unforgettable charter experience with 122’/37.4m M/Y AWOL’s award-winning crew

Any experienced superyacht owner or charter guest will tell you that having the right crew is a crucial ingredient when it comes to creating an unforgettable superyacht holiday. The crew of IYC charter yacht, 122’/37.4m M/YAWOL  (A Way Of Life) embodies this approach and has built a reputation for exceptional charter service.

IYC is extremely proud that their dedication to creating one-of-a-kind guest experiences was recently recognised at the 2018 ACREW awards when the crew of AWOL were named finalists in several categories including ‘Best Charter Yacht Crew”, “Best Captain 500GT”, “Best Chief Officer”, “Best Chief Stewardess” and “Sustainability”. The yacht’s captain, Tristan Mortlock, won the award for ‘Best Captain (500GT) and the Chief Officer, Barbara Clerc, received the “Sustainability” award.

Both these accolades are a tangible reflection of theAWOL crew’s camaraderie and hard work and their dedication to making unforgettable memories for their guests. “I am so proud of the crew of AWOL and to have finished off a successful year of chartering on such a high,” says Captain Mortlock. The success at the ACREW awards follows on from a hat trick of awards for AWOL at the 2018 MYBA Charter Show, where the yacht was named the winner of the prestigious Chefs’ Competition, the Table Display Competition and the Meet and Greet Competition.

Since AWOL first joined the IYC charter fleet in November 2017, she has proved herself again and again as a client favorite. Ideally suited to charter, with a huge number of on board spaces, she has been set up with families in mind and is popular for family charters and smaller groups alike. Captain Mortlock and his crew take the approach of being ‘not just another charter yacht’ and aim to always go above and beyond and exceed guest expectations.

Always impeccably maintained, AWOL is now about to begin a six-month refit in Italy, including a full paint job and mini interior refit, that will leave her in as-new condition for the 2019 summer cruising season, when she already has several repeat client bookings lined up.

The feedback from some AWOL’s many happy charter clients in the past season speaks for itself as a reflection of just whyAWOL’s crew is so deserving of their recent awards. IYC congratulates Captain Tristan and all the AWOL crew.

We had a wonderful time on AWOL and we are all sad to be leaving tomorrow. Captain Tristan and his team have been truly wonderful; the friendliness and service have been exceptional by all eight crew members.”

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the experience and trip of a lifetime. We could not have asked for a better holiday and loved getting to know each of you. Each port and location was amazing in its own way but what truly made the trip was each and every one of you [the crew]! Thank you for the attention to detail, for making us feel at home and so loved.”

The best part of our recent trip was the crew… Real boaters know that a great boating experience is 95% about the crew and 5% about the boat, and you guys are second to none. We couldn’t ask for anything more. I can’t think of one single thing that I would change – everything was perfect.”

AWOL Charter Rate: From €110,000 per week plus expenses
