Naples Yacht Charter Guide

The city that inspired the quote “See Naples and Die” embodies the Italian culture of food, zest for life, and of course, festivities. With a thriving art scene and many impressive museums, culture buffs will not be disappointed in Naples. In the evenings the city comes alive, living up to its colourful reputation – never more so than during the summer months when festivals and celebrations take over the city almost every weekend! A yacht charter in Naples offers dramatic views of curving marinas, volcanoes rising from deep blue waters, and impressive architecture perched on rocky coasts. The IYC fleet offers many boat rental options to choose from to ensure an unforgettable cruise through the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Best Time To Visit: The shoulder seasons (March – June, and October – September) have the benefit of avoiding local holidaymakers. Summer months see the city filled with colourful festivals.

Key Cruising Areas: The Bay of Naples is filled with beautiful islands. Cruise out to the large island of Ischia to explore the coastline riddled with grottos, then step ashore to visit a vineyard and pick up a bottle of Biancolella to enjoy on the deck as you sail back to port.

Don’t Miss: The ruins of Pompei lie close to Naples and are well worth a visit. Alternatively, cruise to Ischia and visit the thermal park of Castiglione, where you can relax in warm waters then jump into a freezing plunge pool for an invigorating circulation boost! Afterward, why not treat your skin with a cold volcanic mud treatment.

Best Spots for Wining and Dining: For a stunning evening, visit the roof garden restaurant at the Hotel Vesuvio. Try their famous Bucatini alla Caruso with a splendid backdrop over the Gulf of Naples.

Best Local Dish: Naples is the birthplace of pizza, and the best are often found in the hole-in-the-wall establishments (look for the crowds to pick the best!).

Local Culture: With art galleries and historic sites everywhere you turn, Naples is not short on history. Visit the library at the Convent of Santa Maria to see the impressive collection of 15th-century books, or visit the Pio Monte della Misericordia chapel, which houses the only Caravaggio artwork that has never left city. A must-do is a visit to Pompei, or the smaller Herculaneum, steeped in history.

Best Beach: The volcanic beach of Maronti is a natural sauna, where steam pours from the hot sand. Enjoy an Aperol spritzer at one of the beach side bars, taking in the view of the sapphire sea meeting the black shores.

IYC recommends: Spend the afternoon strolling around the little streets to arrive at Piazza del Plebiscito, the main square in Naples, home to the Royal Palace and the Basilica Royal, a truly fantastic place to visit. End the day strolling the seafront with the stunning view of Capri and her landscapes.
